Future changes in the world

Expected near-future changes in the world.

Future changes in the world:

Just like video rental shops disappeared, petrol stations will also vanish.

  1. Car repair shops and businesses for oil changes, exhaust systems, and radiators will disappear.

  2. Petrol/diesel engines have 20,000 parts, while electric car engines have only 20. They're sold with lifetime warranties and repaired by dealers under warranty. Replacing an electric engine takes only 10 minutes.

  3. Faulty electric car engines will be repaired at regional workshops using robotics.

  4. When your electric car's engine fails, you’ll go to a place like a car wash station, drop off your car, grab a coffee, and receive your car back with a new engine.

  5. Petrol stations will disappear.

  6. Roads will be equipped with electricity distribution meters and electric charging stations (already started in first-world countries).

  7. Major smart car companies have allocated funds to build factories dedicated to electric cars only.

  8. Coal industries will vanish. Petrol/oil companies will shut down. Oil exploration and drilling will stop.

  9. Homes will generate and store electricity during the day for use at night and for sale to the grid. The grid will store and supply it to energy-intensive industries. Have you seen Tesla’s solar roof?

  10. Today’s kids will see current cars in museums. The future is arriving faster than expected.

  11. In 1998, Kodak had 170,000 employees and sold 85% of the world’s photo paper. Within two years, their business model collapsed and they went bankrupt. Who would’ve thought?

  12. What happened to Kodak and Polaroid will happen to many industries in the next 5–10 years.

  13. Did you think in 1998 that just three years later, nobody would be using film cameras? Due to smartphones, who even owns a camera today?

  14. Digital cameras were invented in 1975. The first had only 10,000 pixels, but they followed Moore’s Law. As with all technology, they started out underwhelming but then improved and took over.

  15. It will happen again (faster) with AI, healthcare, self-driving cars, electric cars, education, 3D printing, agriculture, and jobs.

  16. The author of the book "Future Shock" said: "Welcome to the Fourth Industrial Revolution."

  17. Software has and will continue to disrupt most traditional industries over the next 5–10 years.

  18. Uber owns no vehicles, yet is the world’s largest taxi company. Who imagined that?

  19. Airbnb is now the world’s largest hotel company, yet owns no real estate. Did you ever think Hilton would face that?

  20. Artificial Intelligence: Computers are understanding the world better. This year, a computer beat the world’s best player (10 years earlier than expected).

  21. Young lawyers in the U.S. aren’t finding jobs because IBM’s Watson gives legal advice in seconds with 90% accuracy, compared to humans’ 70%. So if you’re studying law, stop now. In the future, 90% of lawyers will disappear, and only specialists will remain.

  22. Watson is helping doctors diagnose cancer—4 times more accurately than humans.

  23. Facebook now has facial recognition software (better than humans). By 2030, computers will be more intelligent than humans.

  24. Self-driving cars: The first autonomous car is already here. In two years, the whole industry will change. You won’t want to own a car—you’ll just call one on your phone to take you to your destination.

  25. You won’t park your car but will pay based on travel distance. You’ll work during the ride. Kids of today won’t get a driver’s license or own a car.

  26. Cities will change. We’ll need 90–95% fewer vehicles. Old parking spots will become green spaces.

  27. Every year, 1.2 million people die in car crashes—due to drunk driving and speeding. Today, there's one accident every 60,000 miles. With autonomous cars, it will drop to one accident every 6 million miles. A million lives will be saved annually.

  28. Traditional car companies will go bankrupt. They’ll try to make better cars incrementally, while tech companies (Tesla, Apple, Google) will make revolutionary "computers on wheels" (smart electric cars).

  29. Volvo has already stopped making internal combustion engines, shifting entirely to electric and hybrid engines.

  30. Engineers at Volkswagen and Audi are terrified of Tesla—and they should be. Look at all the companies now making electric vehicles. A few years ago, this was unimaginable.

  31. Insurance companies will face major issues, as accident-free driving lowers costs. Car insurance as a business model will vanish.

  32. Real estate will change. People will move to more scenic and affordable areas since they can work while commuting.

  33. By 2030, electric cars will be common. Cities will be quieter, and air will be cleaner.

  34. Electricity will become incredibly cheap and remarkably clean. Solar power production is growing.

  35. Fossil fuel energy companies (oil) are trying to restrict access of home solar power installations to the grid to suppress competition—but this won’t work. Technology is coming. Green energy, whether from green hydrogen or sustainable sources, and green cities will rise. Nuclear reactors will be phased out in most countries.

  36. Healthcare: The price for the Tricorder X will be announced this year. Several companies are creating a medical device (named "Tricorder" after Star Trek) that works with your phone. It will scan your retina, take a blood sample, and analyze your breath. It will identify 54 biological markers that diagnose nearly any disease. Today, dozens of apps already exist for different health purposes.
